Janel Horton, is the founder and owner of sister meal delivery companies, Gourmet Dinner Service (est. 1994) and Dietlicious (est. 2010). Janel showed her passion for cooking at the early age of 4 when her father built her a toy oven. As a teenager, Janel would hijack her mother’s kitchen to create homemade Rum Baba’s (classic French dessert cake), which she sold to Sydney’s leading restaurants.
Early in her career, Janel worked in the corporate world. As a young professional, Janel continually felt frustrated that she lacked time to plan, shop or cook and enjoy healthy meals. So, in 1994 Janel traded her suit for her apron to establish Gourmet Dinner Service, making restaurant quality, home-made meals cooked fresh, snap frozen and home delivered.
Then, in 2010 her many loyal customers made continual requests to develop a better quality and tastier weightloss and weight management meal plans that currently existed in the market. As a result Janel successfully created and launched Dietlicious.
With a simple food philosophy that has remained unchanged, Janel believes in maintaining integrity by using only 100% real wholefood ingredients and never using preservatives or additives. Whether is the best protein, fresh vegetables and herbs Janel has never compromised quality for cost, setting her apart from the cost driven newcomers into the industry. Which is why, 25 years on, Janel has cooked and delivered more than one million meals and has been recognised in Business Review Weekly’s annual list of best female entrepreneurs.
By surrounding herself with the best chefs, nutritionist and dieticians, Janel’s brands are now synonymous with quality, freshness, taste and value. With head office in Sydney, deliveries are made across NSW, QLD, VIC and ACT, with state offices also in Brisbane and Melbourne.
Coming full circle, Janel is partnering with companies seeking practical and positive improvements to the health and wellbeing of their employees by tailoring healthy meal solutions for a range of corporate Health and Wellbeing Programs.
